2007 Persimmon Creek Vineyards Cabernet Franc

2007 Persimmon Creek Vineyards Cabernet Franc

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to taste the 2007 Persimmon Creek Vineyards Cabernet Franc.  Persimmon Creek is located in Clayton, Georgia, situated along the vineyard’s namesake Persimmon Creek.  A small boutique winery, 22 acres are planted to Riesling, Seyval Blanc, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.

Fortunately, I arrived just in time to have a glass, and I’m glad I did.  Exhibiting true varietal character, the Cab Franc displayed nice raspberry fruit on the nose, and smoky, vegetal notes in the mouth.  A medium bodied wine that goes well alone or paired with food.  A very good bottle of wine.

Only 250 cases were produced, so I recommend a visit to Persimmon Creek Vineyards and be sure to tell them The Other 46 sent you!  Don’t forget to become a fan of Georgia Wines on Facebook!  Cheers!

I agree! Persimmon Creek has been my favorite for a long time now. This Cabernet Franc has gotten better each vintage. All the flavor of the grape without the greeeeeen.

Thanks for the comment Kelly! I believe Georgia has a great opportunity with Cabernet Franc. Tiger Mountain Vineyards also produces a great Cab Franc. I recently tasted their latest vintage, and was very impressed!
