2008 Sawtooth Estate Winery Pinot Gris

2008 Sawtooth Estate Winery Pinot Gris

After enjoying the 2007 Sawtooth Estate Winery Pinot Gris earlier this year, I decided to open the 2008 after a long and somber week.  A beautiful wine in glass, this Pinot Gris comes to us from Nampa, Idaho, located just outside of Boise.  An award winning winery, Sawtooth Winery produces a wide array of Vinifera wine varieties such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Riesling (stay tuned for more reviews).

The wine clocks in at 13.5% alcohol and retails for $12.99 online, but is available for purchase at Total Wine for $9.99.  The wine is made up of 86% Pinot Gris, 10% Chardonnay, and 4% Muscat.  On the nose, I got aromas of peach and pears. In the mouth, a clean, crisp wine with nice fruit flavors throughout, consistent with the 2007 vintage.  A very food friendly wine or delicious on its own.  Another solid effort from Sawtooth Winery!
