Persimmon Creek Vineyards
I recently had the opportunity to taste the 2007 Persimmon Creek Vineyards Seyval Blanc, received as a sample from owner Mary Ann Hardman. A gem of a winery located in Clayton on the Georgia Wine Highway, the 110-acre estate in the Northeast Georgia mountains is excelling at Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Franc (see my earlier post), and the Seyval Blanc grape varieties. A winery committed to sustainability, Persimmon Creek Vineyards is proving great wines start in the vineyard!
A limited production wine, only 310 cases were produced. Stainless steel fermentation and aged in neutral French oak, lemon and citrus notes dominate the nose. On the palate, a crisp, light bodied wine, with beautiful citrus and peach notes. A wine that truly encompasses the character of the Seyval Blanc variety.
I recommend a visit to Persimmon Creek Vineyards and be sure to tell them The Other 46 sent you. Cheers!
