A Visit to Virginia’s Wine Country

My long anticipated visit to Virginia’s wine country is now in the books, highlighted by unseasonably-cool weather and wonderful wine. The Virginia wine industry is becoming world-renowned, with 150 wineries on the map, Virginia continues to raise the bar with highly acclaimed wines. I look forward to sharing my adventures beginning with the picturesque Breaux Vineyards located in Loudoun County to the newly opened, Barrel Oak Winery in Fauquier County. I also revisit some oldies but goodies, including Doukénie Winery and Linden Vineyards. Be sure to check back this week for recaps of my visit and the many great wines tasted!

  1. Dear TheOther46.com,

Thanks for planning a trip to Loudoun County’s wineries.

Please keep us posted about your journal articles so we can tweet them to the followers of our Loudoun wineries Twitter feed: twitter.com/LoudounWineries

Don’t know how soon you’ll be here, but DC’s Wine Country is hosting the Food and Wine Festival July 10-12 – $30/person and 20 of Loudoun’s 22 wineries will be pouring.

    Hope you can make it.

  2. Looking forward to reading your report! I’ve never been to the Northern Virginia wineries even though I live so close to them. I usually wine taste in the Monticello AVA, but should check out the other wineries soon. Perhaps your posts will help me decide.

  3. I had a great time! From the customer service, views, and of course, the wine, Barrel Oak Winery was top notch! I hope to have my review up later this week or early next week. Be sure to check back!

  4. Hi Sarah and thanks for stopping by! Hopefully I can persuade you to visit. Definitely some of the best wines (and views) in Virginia! Cheers!

  5. @LoudounWineries, thanks for stopping by! I always look forward to visiting Loudoun County and jumping on the wine trail. Keep up the great work!
